My project was inspired by my eating disorder and my tattoo. I decided to explore the moments in life when I found my eating disorder posed overwhelming challenges yet demanded feats of strength to overcome, which is often deemed too tragic of a topic to openly talk about. On my own journey, I found that recovery is nonlinear and often backtracks, and alternative methods of recovery are out there for strength and power to be drawn. Where I lacked my own inspiration, my tattoo gave me a source to pull from. Thus, my pieces highlight the moments in life where resilience is tested and the human will is shattered, yet humanity is still able to emerge. My final project seeks to communicate that people can emerge from the depths of darkness as more than a mental disorder. People are more than a disease, a disorder, a title, a lifelong sentence of being called a name. There is always enough life and love to regrow a rose- I'm still in the process of regrowing mine.
